Drop by at the Colombo Plaza on a Wednesday or a Sunday afternoon and enjoy the piano stylings of Shane Blok who delights in playing many of the sophisticated tunes of yesteryear especially the meaningful ballads. His repertoire includes tunes like Fascination, La Vien Rose, Speak Softly Love the theme from the film Godfather, Love Story, Feelings, and many of the popular hits made famous by singers like Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, and Vic Damone to name a few. Shane's artistry could also be savoured at the Harbour Room, Grand Oriental Hotel on Mondays and Thursdays in the evening from 7.30 pm. In the weekend besides playing at the Colombo Plaza on Sundays in the afternoon, Shane keeps an enthusiastic audience happy playing at the Capri Club on Saturday evenings from 9 pm onwards, and is a popular choice for weddings and corporate functions. A product of St. Peter's College and St. Benedict's College, Shane learnt his art from well-known music tutors Vilma Warnakulasuriya, Stanley Perera, Shantilal Silva and Shanti Setunge. It follows therefore that his repertoire includes semi-classics, waltzes and favourites from the Richard Clayderman manuscripts. Involved in Business Management as well, Shane Block ensures that he keeps fit with regular exercises and a balanced diet which he attributes are the reasons for his success. |
