Leo Burnett secures 24 awards at SLIM 2004 Leo Burnett Solution Inc. won 8 golds, 8 silvers and 8 bronzes at this year's SLIM awards. The overall tally of 24 awards was from fields as varied as from print advertising to television and outdoor to design. The cross-section of categories that Leo Burnet won in, is the showcasing of its strength in integrated marketing communications. For the past 4 years Burnett has been successful at being recognised as a favourite in the Campaign of the Year category - a unique achievement for any agency. The agency has won the gold award twice for their work for Odel; having also won Bronze for Ceylinco for a Public Service Campaign. This year they walked away with the Silver award for Odel. Leo Burnett's Managing Director, Ranil de Silva escorted the Managing Director of Odel, Otara Chandiram to receive this award capturing the theme of the event 'Bound to cross boundaries together'. Ranil de Silva said that their shift in focus on to quality rather than quantity gained the recognition it deserves. He added that as they did not compete in about 40% of the categories, coming in third was actually a dream come true. The agency he reminisced has grown from 15 awards and a fifth place finish in 2003 to the current third position with 24 awards. This is a significant achievement as growth of this magnitude was not seen from any other agency. |
