'Blue Black and the Blues' :

Memories and happiness

A milestone in the annals of S. Thomas' College is the CD 'Blue Black and the Blues' which was released in connection with the historic 125th Royal Thomian' cricket encounter. More than fifteen show biz personalities, old Thomians themselves, rallied round to sing twenty tracks of songs which were written and arranged by Priya Pieris (of Cock-a-doodle and Nuwara Menikela fame). The songs reflect in many ways the pride and joy of being a student at S. Thomas' and experiencing events in brotherhood which mould you for life out of school.

The Thomian Group of '56 who performed on the CD are Jayantha de Silva (leader of Pearl), Vijaya Corea, Arun Dias Bandaranaike, Sohan Weerasinghe (leader of X'periments) Arith Ratnavibushana (ex-Kings), Chandana Gunasinghe and Hiran Fernando (ex-Super Pink 'N Purple), Priya Peiris, Brian Fernando and Lasla Fernando (all of La Bambas).

The other musically talented old Thomians who participated are Ranmal Peiris, Nishan Mendis, Eranjan Perera, Roshanka Peiris, Viranjan Perera and Eshantha Peiris. Songs like 'Those Good Old Days at Mount' 'We Are The STC, 'Duck Pond and the Tarzan Tree' "Today is my last Day in School' will surely endear many a Thomian to their Alma Mater. 'Blue Black and the Blues' despite its title spreads happiness.
