Sachini makes her debut

Teenager Sachini Wijemanne made her debut on the concert stage last Friday (March 12 at the Elphinstone Theatre.

A student of Bishop's College, Colombo her show 'Sachini Sathsaraniya' that evening contained several well known and popular songs from the world of cinema, radio and television. There were new selections as well lyrics composed by Dr. Ajantha Ranasinghe and Dr. Praneeth Abeysundara.

The music was written by Sangeeth Nipun Sanath Nandasiri and the orchestra comprised artistes from radio and television directed by Tulin Jayaratne. Just sixteen years old Sachini was nurtured in a home where music-played a prominent part.

Her parents encouraged her musical talent and interest and in addition to her academic studies in school, Sachini is preparing for her Visharadha Diploma under Sangeeth Nipun Sanath Nandasiri.
