Serasinghe restrict SJP MV to 182

by RANJAN ANANDAPPA

An impressive spell of left arm spin bowling by Kotte Thomian Oshadie Serasinghe (5 for 28) restricted Sri Jayawardenepura MV to 182 on the first day of the 29th 'Battle of Kotte' at the P.Sara Stadium yesterday.

St.Thomas' Kotte were 33 for 2 at close.

The SJMV batsmen were pegged down by Serasinghe's spin and there were no substantial partnerships to build up big first innings score. Skipper M. R. Jayasekera top-scored with 31 and the last pair of D. T. Ariyaratne (19 n.o) and D. Pranath took the score from 148 for 9 to their final destination of 182.

The match will be continued today.
