Dialog GSM recognises Business Partner Network at Sales Excellence Awards

Dialog GSM's top-performing dealers and sales personnel were rewarded at the Dialog GSM Sales Excellence Awards held recently. It was the fourth consecutive year that the Business Partner network was recognized for its contribution towards consolidating undisputed market leadership in the mobile communications market and sustaining Dialog GSM as the largest and fastest growing mobile operator in the country.

The Sales Excellence Awards recognize Dialog GSM's prepaid and post paid dealer network, its i-box (internet) business partners and the company's Corporate Sales and Distribution Staff.

The Phone Company emerged the Top Achiever in the Channel Sales Post Paid category while Communication and Business Equipment (Pvt) Ltd was named Top Achiever - Channel Sale Pre Paid. Softlogic International won the top Arcade Sales while the i-Box Top Achiever was Kobian Technologies. The Sales Excellence Awards also gave the dealers and their staff an opportunity to display their creativity through innovative presentations at the ceremony.

Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, CEO of Dialog GSM spoke of the value Dialog GSM places in its partners and the relationships shared across the family of business partners. He trace the history of Dialog GSM over the past 7 years during the early stages of which it was a straggling operator with little over 60,000 subscribers and coverage in just a handful of towns. He praised the courage, confidence and determination of the business partners who had the faith to support the company's journey.

Dr. Wijayasuriya attributed the success of Dialog GSM in 2003 - when its subscriber bases base grew to over 850,000 - 62% of Sri Lanka's cellular market, to the efforts of its partners and employees.

Tracing the company's achievements in 2003, Dr. Wijayasuriya spoke of the confidence placed in the company by the private sector financing arm of the World Bank - the International Finance Corporation - to enter into its largest non-secure non-recourse financing for Sri Lanka with an investment of US $50 million in the expansion of the Dialog GSM network.

Dr. Wijayasuriya also emphasized that Dialog GSM had never ignored competition and pledged to continue to lead and take market share well beyond the 65% range by end 2004. He also said, "Dialog GSM will continue to change and redefine paradigms of mobile communication.

As demonstrated last year, we will face competition, with confidence, class and dignity, with an overriding focus on the customer. We will continue to be an exemplary leader in all aspects of the business - the service to the customer being paramount".

Nushad Perera, General Manager Sales and Marketing Dialog GSM saluted the sales and distribution force for rising against the wind in an year of challenges - and for changing the goalposts of the cellular business Ac Listed some of the breakthrough innovations introduced by Dialog GSM in 2003, such as Fixed Line SMS, TV on your Phone, Missed Call Alert, Dual Band Architecture, Six Way Call Conferencing and becoming Sri Lanka's first airline rewards partner with the Skywards Loyalty tie up.

He also highlighted the IDD revolution initiated by Dialog GSM the first operator to drop call charges from Rs. 150 to Rs. 25 as soon as the regulatory process was approved.
