Lanka Walltile participates at coverings 2004 exhibition Sri Lanka's premiere wall tile manufacturing company LWL participated at the covering 2004 exhibition, held from the 23rd to the 26th of March 2004 at Orlando, Florida, USA. Representing LWL was M/s. Lucky de Chickera - GM/CEO. Niranjan Jayawickreme - DGM & Anura Ratnayake - Manager Export Sales. LWL's exports to the USA & Canada has been growing every year and in the financial year 2003/04 it is estimated that the total exports to that part of the world would exceed Rs. 306 million, it is around 50% of their total exports. The exhibition for us was a tremendous success with our new line of products of 'Hand Moulded Isole wall tiles being a tremendous hit' said the General Manager/CEO. There were over 1000 exhibitors from all over the world with Spanish & Italian products dominating the show. Brazil, India, China, USA, Portugal & Turkey were the other big exhibitors. Lanka Walltile Ltd and its subsidiary Lanka Tiles Limited manufacturers of floor tiles for local & export markets were the sole representatives from Sri Lanka at this annual exhibition. Continuous exposure by LWL at this annual exhibition has helped expand their product range in US and Canada where there is a tremendous demand for value added products. LWL's factory at Balangoda, which is over 27 years old, is still churning out field tiles of 6x6, 4 1/4x 4 1/4, 6x3 which is used in great volumes in North America in addition to the value added hand painted/Moulded tiles. A spokesman for LWL said that competition is extremely stiff, particularly with the Chinese products now making tremendous inroads into this very lucrative market. LWL has a strong network of distributors and agents and this has helped them over the years to build up a loyal market segment particularly with their brand and quality. LWL is an ISO 9001 system accredited company and belongs to the Ceylon Theatres Group, which has recently been expanding its investments in all areas of operations. Representatives from both LWL & LWMPL visited their buyers and the Network in the US & Canada after the exhibition, promoting their line of products further. |
