A golden opportunity was offered to all Sri Lankans interested in pursuing higher education in Sri Lanka or abroad when the Pakistan International Educational Services headed by its CEO Mr. Mohammad S. Mirza, held its 18th International Education Exhibition in Sri Lanka, in association with the American College of Higher Education as its local organiser, at the Colombo Plaza (Lanka Oberoi) last month.

This was the very first time that as many as 35 prestigious Foreign Universities from around the world, together with a few local institutions participated in an international education fair, under one roof.

Assumption University - Thailand, British College of Applied Studies - Sri Lanka, Doncaster College - UK represented by IBS in Sri Lanka, Gime American University - North Cyprus, Global University Alliance - Singapore, IHTC International Hotel & Tourism College - Switzerland, International Educational Services - UK, Mohidol University International College - Thailand, Manipal Academy of Higher Education - India, Taylor's College - Malaysia, University of Sint Eustitius, Netherlands Antilles, University of Wollongong - Australia/UAE, Vesile Goldis Western University - Romania, Virtual Global University - Germany, Wichita State University, USA and the American College of Higher Education were some of the universities, to name a few.

There was an excellent response from students and parents alike, numbering over 4,000 participants, who were interested in gathering information pertinent to higher education. Exhibitors offered them the opportunity of one-on-one discussions, which enabled the participants clarify their queries and concerns individually. Besides Free Entrance, Student Counselling and all catalogues and literature too were distributed free of charge.

Many participants were overwhelmed by the thoroughness of the fair which was a huge success. They stated that by their participation they were also able to learn of the various scholarships ranging from US $2,500 upwards which are being awarded by the foreign universities as well as the scholarships that are being awarded by the American College of Higher Education.

A number of the participating Universities too, have expressed their wish to participate in such fairs that will be organised in the future. Mirza, together with Mrs. Sherryn Yaseen-Mangalagama, CEO of the American College of Higher Education stated that they hope to make this an annual event.
