Travel : A new experience for KLM passengers A "near lie-flat" seat reclining to a horizontal position of 170 degrees for business class and an "on demand" entertainment system with over 60 movies for all are two facilities that KLM passengers would enjoy on the new Boeing 777 aircraft, introduced recently by KLM on their Dubai-Amsterdam route. Between October 2003 and mid 2005, KLM is taking delivery of the new Boeing 777-200 ER aircraft, replacing the airline's current ten Boeing 747-300 and two of its MD-11 aircraft. The 777s, which operate on intercontinental routes, offers 35 World Business Class seats and 292 Economy seats. The new Boeing 777 flying between Dubai and Amsterdam had its inaugural flight last February. The Boeing 777 aircraft operated on the Dubai - Amsterdam route 5 times a week in the month of April and daily from May onwards. Economy passengers enjoy entertainment on demand through an easy to operate system offering over 60 movies, a variety of games; destination and KLM related information, and a kid zone library with 15 Disney movies. Wider and more relaxing seats, significantly more spacious cabin interior with new designs, curtains, carpet and laminates add to a relaxed travel experience. Apart from all new enhancements offered in economy class and the "near lie-flat" seats, equipped with lumbar support providing a massage effect on the lower back, business class guests enjoy entertainment on 10.4 inch video screen. For the working traveller a socket for laptop computers and a satellite telephone with an adjustable reading lamp is now present. "With the introduction of our new Boeing 777 aircraft, we are taking the travel experience to a higher level," said Leon Weerts, Regional Marketing Manager, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. We are excited to welcome our passengers to a whole new array of amenities and improvements in both business and economy class. |
