President Calls in CID to investigate Kandapola incident

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga in concurrence with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse directed the CID to investigate last Wednesday's incident at Kandapola in the Nuwara Eliya district.

President has also told IGP Indra de Silva to leave no stone unturned in bringing to book all those responsible for the ugly incident which resulted in the deaths of two persons and four others injured.

The President took swift action to have normalcy returned in the troubled tea plantation town with the Prime Minister heading a special team which included Senior Advisor to the President K. Balapatabendi, Secretary to the Prime Minister Lalith Weeratunga and Public Security Ministry Secretary Tilak Ranavirajah who rushed to the scene.
