Cricket coaching clinic for juniors at Darrawela KANDY SPORTS CORRESPONDENT The Central Province Cricket Association in association with the Kandy District Cricket Association will conduct a cricket coaching clinic for Junior cricketers in the Hatton, Maskeliya and Bogawantalawa areas today at 9.30 am at the Dickoya Maskeliya Cricket Club grounds at Darrawela. Former People's Alliance Parliamentarian Tilina Tennakoon who heads both the CPCA and Kandy District CA and himself a fine allrounder for both Dharmaraja College and the BRC will head this coaching clinic along with Central Provincial coach Sunil Fernando and district cricket coaches Bernard Perera, K. Karthigesan and Chaminda Kodikara. The Central Province CA General Secretary Janaka Pathirana said that over 150 junior cricketers are expected to turn up for this coaching clinic where they will be put through their paces just before the schools junior cricket season commences. The junior cricketers from these plantation towns should grab this opportunity and make full use of it. It must be recalled that Sunil Fernando is the first cricket coach of off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan and the other coaches are also experienced ones. |
