Mercantile cricket tournaments uncover hidden talent at AMW

The current Mercantile cricket tournaments are playing a vital role in uncovering hidden talent, which can strengthen our National teams.

Associated Motorways (AMW) who have reached the "B" division final, returned to competition in 2004 after a four-year absence. In the period 1992-1997 they climbed from "E" division to "A" division, T.M. Dilshan, straight out of school (Kalutara MV) was a member of this team). However the captaincy of Hasitha Rajapakse and the batsmanship of Asela Wewelwala, Rashantha Sureshchandra & Padmanath Perera and main strike bowler Priyankara Silva are worthy of special mention.

A player who has stood out with his consistent performance behind the 'sticks' is Primal Buddhika from Galle c.c. Young Primal Buddhika has a bright future and may well be in the Sri Lanka 'A' saved soon.

Asela Wewelawala (former Mahinda captain) & Rashantha Sureshchandra (former D.S. captain) both represent Kurunegala YC, Ruchira Karunasena (Galle CC) and Priyankara Silva (BRC) are promising players who have done remarkably well at the Premier Level.
