Union Motor Star to promote good driving Union Assurance Limited (UAL) last week introduced Union Motor Star, a policy to insure the driver rather than the vehicle and promote safe driving through rewarding safe drivers. New and existing customers of Union Assurance qualify for the many benefits on offer in the policy. Union Motor Star rewards safe drivers with NCBs (No Claims Bonus), at a much higher percentage than the market rate, thereby providing them with substantial savings in their premium. There are, however, situations where even a safe driver could meet with an accident. This eventuality is also covered by Union Motor Star. Any customer with a 15% NCB - namely, a customer who has held a motor policy for just one year, is eligible to qualify for on the scene assessment and approval of upto 75 % of the claim, without the usual time consuming procedures required in obtaining a police report, subject to there being no 3rd party liability. This on the scene assessment service is initially introduced within the Colombo and Greater Colombo areas, where UAL's motor assessors would be at the scene of the accident within 30 minutes from the time of reporting the accident to the Union Assurance Call Centre. Union Motor Star caters to UAL customers out of the Greater Colombo area, by providing them with a round the clock assessment facility, which will follow standard procedures, depending on circumstances. Customers are also given the choice of opting for a settlement through the usual claims processing channels if they are not in agreement with the cash in lieu offer, as featured in this product. This will be considered on a case by case basis. |
