'Roselynn' wins two first prizes

When Nandana Edirimanne, Director, Marketing of a leading garment industry purchased a 1/2 acre shrub land at Moon Plains, Nuwara Eliya over an year ago, he never dreamt that one day it would turn out to be a 'mini botanical' garden and win two first prizes at a prestigious garden competition 'April Bloom' held annually in Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka's number one tourist destination.

Roselynn' won the first prize in the 'Lawn Private Medium' and 'Flower Garden Private Medium' categories. "I was reluctant to purchase the shrub land but on my wife Chandima's insistence that I purchased this block of land and built a 'Boutique' concept hotel with five luxury rooms" Edirimanne said. Up to the time of winning the two first prizes at 'April Bloom-2004' Edirimanne, did not market his cottage which stands out as a masterpiece of his own architecture in Nuwara Eliya.

Hard work put in by Edirimanne and his flower-crazy wife, charming Chandima, a shrub land has been converted to a 'Mini Botanical' garden which bears over 100 varieties of roses and over another 100 varieties of other breathtaking flowers, some of which are new not only to Nuwara Eliya but also to Sri Lanka, Edirimanne said.

'Roselynn' will now be marketed as probably the first 'Boutique' type concept hotel in Nuwara Eliya with a beautiful 'Mini-botanical' garden after winning the two first prizes at Nuwara Eliya's prestigious 'April Bloom' flower garden competition organised annually by the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council.
