Fashion show with a difference

A dinner show with the theme of a "Mehendi Party" is to be held at Trans Asia Hotel on May 14, organised by the Young Muslim Women's League in association with Hameedias.

The Mehendi Party is a big party held by a girl on the eve of her wedding in customary Indian and Pakistani tradition. It is an evening celebrated with great pageantry which includes close friends and relatives. Music, songs and dance livens up the evening, which usually culminates with a sumptuous spread of dinner. Another custom that is performed at this traditional Mehendi Party is the application of Henna with great artistry on the feet and hands of young girls.

This colourful event organised in association with Multilac and Hameedia. The proceeds of this event will be donated towards their Educational Trust Fund which offers scholarships to University students.

Here's a sneak preview of some of the outfits to be featured at the show. The presentation will highlight Shalwar Kameez and Cholis made for special occasions such as weddings. The special ornamentations include bead works, mirror and sandalwood put together with fin strands of gold and silver threads.
