SriLankan resumes flights by JAYAMPATHY JAYASINGHE Sri Lankan Airlines flights grounded on Friday following the token strike staged by the Sri Lankan Airlines Flight Attendants Union (FAU) were resumed yesterday at 2.00 P.M after core issues affecting them were discussed with Sri Lankan Airlines top management. Janice Jochim, Secretary of the Sri Lankan Airlines Flight Attendants Union, addressing a Press Conference at Taj Samudra Hotel yesterday said their union has had a fruitful discussion with Peter Hill, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sri Lankan Airlines regarding core issues affecting them. She said CEO, Hill had assured them that their grievances will be looked into in due course and had told them to submit the list of issues. Primal De Silva, Chairman of the Sri Lankan Flight Attendants Union said they had called off the strike and all Sri Lankan Airlines flights from London, Paris, Frankfurt and Zurich were operating from Saturday afternoon. He said the Union decided to stage a token strike in respect of wages in their Collective Agreement and regarding a top official of the Sri Lankan Airways who had not looked into their grievances. |
