Delighted President congratulates Muralitharan

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga in a message congratulating Sri Lanka off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan establishing a world record states:

Congratulations and best wishes says Prime Minister

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse sent his warm greetings to Muttiah Muralitharan Sri Lanka off spinner, on his achievement of becoming the highest wicket taker in Test cricket.

On behalf of the Sri Lanka Government and the people of Sri Lanka I congratulate you and send you my best wishes.

Cricket is one factor which has brought honour and recognition to Sri Lanka. We consider your contribution most valuable.

"May you and the Sri Lankan Cricket team have the ability to improve its position and take Sri Lanka name further in international fame", the message from Prime Minister said.

Congrats Murali - SLC

Mohan de Silva, President Sri Lanka Cricket, along with the Executive Committee congratulate Muralitharan on breaking the world record of capturing the highest number of Test wickets.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is extremely proud of Muttiah Muralitharan, and his record breaking achievement. He has reached this milestone despite the many obstacles he has had to face in his career time and time again. SLC has always believed in Muralitharan and would like to take this opportunity to state that Sri Lanka Cricket will continue to be a pillar of strength to Muralitharan with his pursuits to achieve even greater heights.

Murali has always been a fine example and a excellent ambassador for Sri Lankan cricket. He also has all the qualities of a great cricketer that every young follower of the game should emulate.
