Commercial Bank e-Banking division relocated

The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has relocated its e-Banking Division to a more spacious new office at the ground floor of its head office at Bristol Street.

This sophisticated division is the nerve centre for the complete range of IT-based services provided by the Commercial Bank.

These services include ComBank Online (Internet Banking), ComBank e-Exchange (Instant money transfers), ComSMS (Mobile phone banking) and Instant Payment Package (Instant inter-bank payment and supplier payment settlements).

At a simple ceremony organised at the new division, Commercial Bank's Managing Director Amitha Gooneratne said: "This innovative e-Banking division has greatly contributed to the progress of the bank and, within a very short period, we hope to be on par with the best banks in the region."

Commercial Bank's e-Banking Division Manager Pradeep Banduwansa said that "All that customers have to do is to fill up a few forms to subscribe to numerous services offered by this division. By relocating this division, we have provided for the greater convenience and comfort of the many customers who call over."

Users of 'ComBank Online' have the advantage of obtaining the transactions history and the balance of one's Current or Savings Account, credit card balance, make cheque book requests, settle CMC rates, telephone, water and electricity bills from any location via the internet.

The ComSMS service allows customers to check their account balance, transfer funds, and to check ComBank International Credit Card balances via their mobile phones. The ComBank e-Exchange service allows instant money transfers via a number of reputed financial institutions in Kuwait, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, the other Emirates, Lebanon, UK and many other countries to any one of the 119 Commercial Bank branches in Sri Lanka. This facility is extensively used by Sri Lankan expatriates as a very cheap and speedy method of transferring remittances to their kith and kin in Sri Lanka.

The Commercial Bank of Ceylon was recently named the 'Best Bank' in Sri Lanka for the sixth consecutive year by the New York based business monthly 'Global Finance'. The Commercial Bank was also named the 'Bank of the Year' in 2003 for the third consecutive year by the London based 'The Banker' magazine. The Global Finance magazine cited the bank's heavy investment in technology as one of the many contributory factors for its success.
