Open World continues to grow

Internet technology and media provider, Open World continues to increase its presence in the country through strategic development and growth strategies. Founded in the United Kingdom with marketing operations in the United States and Production in Asia, the company set up operations in Sri Lanka to capitalise on the high degree of technical expertise and competitive cost advantages of operating a production base in South East Asia.

With a staff of more than 100 hotel- focused Internet specialists and programmers from 15 countries, Open World comprises a network of professionals using languages that include Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish. The identification of Sri Lanka as an emerging technology facility with highly skilled technical personnel has prompted the expansion of local operations with the addition of new staff and facilities.

The Sri Lanka branch of the company moves into new premises this month as part of Open World's expansion plan - 'Global Fusion' begun in 2002. The plan has already paid dividends through strategic tie-ups with more than 60 of the World's leading hotel brands.

The addition of more than 20 new technical and support staff in key areas to the Colombo office, has further strengthened the capacity and skills of the company. Further expansion plans will see the staff number exceeding 50 by end 2004.The new custom-built offices incorporate leading edge technologies and systems that are designed to ensure superior product design and a highly productive work environment.

The winner of many prestigious awards, including the Forbes Best of the Web Award (2001), Best Hotel Website Award (2002), and the Best Hotel and Lodging Website Award (2003), the company continues to increase its market share in the hotel and resort website management arena.
