Sri Lankan honoured

Sri Lankan Agricultural Engineer and businessman, S. P. C. Kumarasinghe has been honoured by Her Majesty Beatrix The Queen of The Kingdom of The Netherlands with the Royal Honour attached to the order of Orange Nassau as the "Knight of Orange Nassau," for many years of dedication to promote the bi-lateral co-operation between The Netherlands and Sri Lanka, especially in the fields of education, culture and development co-operation.

Financial assistance needed

Chatuni Dambawinna, an Year 3 student of Hillwood College, Kandy is deaf and dumb by birth and has been examined recently by ENT specialist of KKR hospital, Chennai, India.To cure her deafness, the doctors have advised her to undergo "Cochlear Implant" operation which will cost Rs. 25 lakhs.

Parents of Chatuni who are unable to bear the estimated amount of Rs. 25 lakhs, are seeking financial assistance from philanthropists and friends.

Seeks assistance

E. Lanka Rangika, of 63 Kalawana Road, a girl studying in the year seven at Karawita Central College is suffering from a heart complication (hole in the heart). She is advised to undergo cardiac surgery.

Severe kidney failure

E. M. Dissanayake of No. 92, Palugas Wewa, Meegalawa, Anuradhapura is suffering from a severe kidney failure.

According to doctors at Kandy General Hospital he has to undergo surgery which could only be done in India. The estimated cost is about Rs. 20 lakhs. Donations could be sent to Sampath Bank, Thambuttegama branch. The Account number is: 1048 5002 3220.

Kidney patient seeks help

Mr. Kithsiri Hapuarachchi is diagnosed as chronic renal failure patient. He requires kidney transplant as life saving measure and is scheduled to have it in India. The total cost of this operation is nearly Rs. 11 lakhs, even with contribution from President's Fund.
