NIBM spreads wings to NE

National Institute of Business Management (NIBM), the organisation which for 36 years has trained job-seekers and professionals in technology, marketing, management, etc. with some of its certificates recognised overseas, launched a new logo, recently.

The logo could be recognised by the bold NIBM lettering, and a triangle and globe above it.

With the launch of the new logo, NIBM will further compete with the private sector in professional training, NIBM's Director General, Mithaka Fernando said. NIBM will open training centres in Jaffna, Batticaloa, and Galle shortly, in addition to the ones in Colombo, Kandy and Kurunegala, Director, Gunadasa Kolombage said.Answering questions from journalists, director Premalal Nayakkara said that in the future, the Institute would conduct some of its training sessions in the Tamil medium. Among the courses of study currently being conducted include, the advanced diploma in industrial engineering, meant for engineers, production managers, technologists, productivity advisors, managers of service organisations, industrial researchers, training managers and scientific persons.

The course contents include, industrial economics; business statistics; marketing management; management concepts; industrial law and industrial relations; financial accounting; cost techniques; information technology; operations research; method study and work measurement; facilities design and layout; maintenance management; materials management; production planning and control; quality management; strategic planning.

And, special topics as, productivity management; training and development; time management and project management.

Other study courses conducted in English include, diploma in insurance, diploma in supplies materials management, diploma in business management.

The studies in the Sinhala medium include, diploma in human resources management, diploma in supplies and materials management, diploma in business management and diploma in insurance.
