The meditation campaign organised by A. T. Ariyaratne, founder President of the Sarvodaya Movement, will be the grand finale to the 'World Yoga and Meditation Congress' to be held in Sri Lanka, for the first time, from July 28 to 31. The congress has been jointly arranged by the organisation of Yoga and Meditation Associations of Sri Lanka (OYAMA), Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement and indigenous doctors of ayurveda and acupuncture. The SriLankan Airlines will offer a 10 percent discount for the delegates who will fly to Sri Lanka to attend the congress. They will arrive on July 27 and depart on August 1. Hotel Taj Samudra will be the hosting hotel. The congress will open with a grand inaugural session at the BMICH on July 28, with the participation of local and foreign delegates involved in yoga and meditation throughout the world. "Our main aim is to develop a common vision and understanding in the new millennium amongst all devotees of yoga and meditation," said Mahaguru Winston Dissanayaka, founder Mahaguruashram, the main body of the OYAMA. A number of efficient yogis and yoginis, who have earned a name for yoga and meditation, will conduct interesting sessions with lectures and practical yoga courses during the 4-day programme. Several 'Vipassana Bhavana' (insight meditation) sessions are also included in the programme. |
