Murder at Gunasinhapura by Jayampathy Jayasinghe A gruesome murder of a 28-year-old unmarried woman, a domestic helper employed at a residence in a housing complex at Gunasinhapura Housing complex at Dias Place, Colombo is being investigated by the Keselwatte police following the arrest of two suspects last Friday. The deceased, from Chenkaladi, Batticaloa was found lying in a pool of blood in the bathroom with both her hands tied with a rope. OIC Crimes Keselwatte IP, W. A. D. Dayananda found the blood splattered body of the woman, her throat slit with a sharp instrument when he was alerted last Friday. The victim of the murder has been identified as Dharmalingam Devaselvi. She was to be married on July 20, Inspector Dayananda said. The JMO Colombo who visited the residence examined the deceased but found no evidence to suggest that she was raped before the killing.Inspector Dayanada said although the motive for murder is still not clear, the woman's gold chain and the gold ring were missing. |
