Tea with the Queen Mrs. Sheilanee de Saram a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) in United Kingdom has been invited to attend the Garden Party at Buckingham Palace with Queen Elizabeth II of England and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh on July 8. The event is organised to mark the RSA's 250th anniversary. Sheilanee the Chairperson and the Founder of the Institute for Examinations in English Music and Speech (IEMS Examinations) in Sri Lanka, is the Representative of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) U.K. and the Society of Teachers of Speech & Drama (STSD) U.K.,in Sri Lanka. The invitation to attend the Garden Party was extended to Mrs. De Saram by the Chairman of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts (RSA). Mrs. De Saram says she is very excited about meeting Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, and deems it a rare opportunity. " I am proud for my country, as the invitation is a high appreciation and recognition of work of an ordinary Sri Lankan citizen and I am really happy I have been able to bring honour to my country. This will be an unforgettable event in my life", she says. This "self made woman" was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce received her Fellowship Certificate from the Director of this prestigious Body, on October 06, 2003. |
