Soon a concert extravaganza

After a hiatus, Kings led by the experienced bassist Chandral Fonseka is back in the active scene now playing weekly at the Blue Leopard GOH on Wednesdays and if you wish to soak in more of their music, then make a second date with the band on Fridays at the Harbour Room.

Kings will be one of the bands that will be featured at the extravaganza "GOH Musical Awards Night" which will be staged at the Bishops College Auditorium on Friday, August 27. This extravaganza is being staged to raise funds to expand the oldest night spot in the country - the Blue Leopard Night Lounge. Performing on that day will be C&C Connection with Chandani and Chaminda, Bottomline led by Nilan Perera, Feedback with Asela Fernando and Dream Team.

Before their hiatus Kings enjoyed a successful music career. "In 1983 we left for Europe and achieved success there. When we returned in '87 we played continuously without a break for six years, before the group disbanded. Shiran Munasinghe joined Aquarius, Aruna Liyanage is now the guitarist for Jaysri, Melantha Perera joined Mirage and Sonali left for Melbourne.

Today guitarist Ranil Waas a founder member is back with me and the other members of Kings are Rafi Buksh - keyboards, Heshan de Silva - drums and Nirasha de Silva - vocals. We are looking forward to the concert and to meeting up with all our fans" expresses Chandral.
