'Sunday Observer' Health Editor wins award Senior 'Sunday Observer' staffer Ms Carol Aloysius received a Special Merit award for her contribution to Reproductive Health journalism in Sri Lanka for the year 2003, Tuesday, at a special ceremony held at the Health Education Bureau at which the chief guest was the Minister of Healthcare, Nutrition and Uva Wellassa Development, Mr Nimal Siripala de Silva. This is the second occasion that Ms Aloysius, who is currently the Health Editor of the 'Sunday Observer' has won an award for her contributions to health journalism. In 2003, she was given an award for Excellence in Health Reporting by the Sri Lanka Medical Association. Mr Marilin Marikka ('Thinakaran'), also received a Special Merit award. Merit certificates were awarded to: Nalika Fernando, ('Tharunaya'), Deepa Vasanthi Edirisinghe ('Birinda'), Chandrika Jayakanthi (Radio), A.L.M, Sathar ('Navamin'), Amal Udawatte ('Vidusarana') and Thilaka Navaratne ('Subasetha'). Ms Deepani Chandrika Ranasinghe ('Tharunee') and Hemalal Wijesinghe (TV) won the awards for the best contribution to Reproductive Health journalism. |
