Speaking to the 'Sunday Observer,' a senior official of CRC, team Usman Fatherally, who won the 'A' Pairs and 'B' Pairs, said that the team's success was due to the focus training and the experience of oarsmen who had competed in Madras before which had helped to work out strategies.

He also stated that it was very challenging to beat Madras Boat Club in Madras as they have a 700-metre course comparatively shorter to the waters at the Beira Lake and also considering the fact that the Madras team were national sprint champions.

In the ladies events, CRC won the pairs, while Madras won the four and sculls. The team was led by national oarsman Diluk Aluvihare and coached by Lakmal Wickremage and John Dinese.
