Bribery sleuths back in action

by Ranga Jayasuriya

The Bribery and Anti-Corruption Commission which resumed investigations early this month, after one and half years of inaction has identified 305 complaints for further investigations, Director General of the Commission, Piyasena Ranasinghe said, but added that shortage of officers would delay investigations.

The Bribery Commission resumed investigations after the appointment of Justice K. Viknarajah to the post which fell vacant following the demise of Commissioner N. Abeyweera in February last year.

"We received over a thousand complaints during the last one and half years and three hundred and five were identified to be further investigated," Ranasinghe told the Sunday Observer.
