Rev. Fr. Moise OMI - 60 years of priesthood Having served 60 years of Priesthood in the service of the Catholic Church Fr. Moise OMI retired from active service of the church. The diamond Jubilee of his Priesthood was celebrated at the OMI House Ampitiya on June 18 this year. A Holy Mass to give thanks to our Lord was held at the St. Anthonys Church Batagama. The Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Betram Fernando Parish Priest of St. Anthony's church Batagama and Rev. Frs. Ravin Sadaris and Fr. Moise himself assisted in celebrating the mass. Having come here from France as a young priest giving up his parents, relations friends and all his loved ones in France, he decided to serve this country and dedicated his life for the church in this country. He had started his vocation as an Assistant Priest attached to the Pamunugama Parish on his arrival in Sri Lanka and thereafter posted to Katukurunda Batagama and then to Bollatha serving as a Parish Priest. The major part of priesthood was dedicated to the service of the people of Batagama parish running to 23 years of his Priesthood. On his retirement we wish Fr. Moise long life and good health and we will pray to our Lord invoking the Blessings for his well-being for the rest of his life. P. Wijegunawardena |
