President leaves to address UN

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga left for the United States today to address the 59th sessions of the United Nations General Assembly.

Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake will act as Minister of Defence during her absence. The President's other three cabinet portfolios will be in charge of by Minister Mangala Samaraweera (School Education), Minister Dinesh Gunawardena (Higher Education) and Minister D.E.W. Gunasekera. (Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Reconciliation).
