More LTTE deserters?

Amidst speculation of another possible split in the LTTE military sources said yesterday they have received unconfirmed reports about Swaranam a leading military commander of the LTTE joining Soosai the leader of the LTTE sea wing.

"Apparently there is something going on in the LTTE which we can not be sure of. But it is quite unlikely there will be another split in the LTTE, but what is more likely is that both Soosai and Swaranam will leave the LTTE," said a senior military official .

Swaranam, hailing from Trincomalee was one of the most trusted men of Prabhakaran, and was made a regional commander following the unprecedented split in the LTTE in April when Karuna revolted.

However another segment in the military were of the view that the reports were false propaganda carried out by Karuna loyalists.

"The location of Soosai is not favourable for any such move," another senior official said.

The LTTE however denied the claims
