German SCHWING Stetter enters Sri Lankan market

SCHWING Stetter India Pvt. Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of the SCHWING Stetter Gmbh, Germany, announced their entry into the Sri Lankan market. SCHWING Stetter will be delivering the first batch of five Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) Transit mixes to Colombo based, Tokyo Cement for their requirement in Kandy.

With this, SCHWING Stetter becomes the first company to bring in new Ready Mix Transit Mixers to Sri Lanka, a market dominated largely by reconditioned and used truck mixers.

Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director, Anand Sundaresan -SCHWING Stetter India Pvt. Ltd, said: "With many upcoming infrastructure projects there is nothing to stop the growth of the RMC business in Sri Lanka. Apart from Transit Mixers we also foresee a huge demand for products like Batching Plants and Boom Pumps for infrastructure projects like Ports, Airports, Highways and Power Houses etc. We are planning to launch a state-of-the-art Truck mounted concrete pump KVM 32 in Sri Lanka by mid November, 2004".

Bandara, Ready Mix Concrete division, Tokyo Cement said: "Our vision has been to make the latest technology available which is affordable to the common man. We demand the highest levels of quality from all our partners and vendors. And when it came to RMC Transit Mixers, we found the perfect partner in SCHWING Stetter".

On the occasion VP Marketing - SCHWING Stetter, Sakthikumar, said: "This partnership cemented between SCHWING Stetter and Tokyo Cements has proven to be a very successful one. With a huge potential in this market we anticipate a turnover of 1 million USD this year and expect the same to grow geometrically. We are on the look out for a good business partner who could assist us in promoting our business in Sri Lanka".

SCHWING Stetter offers a world-class training facility for the engineers of their customers' at their facility in Chennai. For the time being, the service engineers from Chennai will be flown to Colombo for any service requirements at very short notice.

However, they plan to shortly post a service engineer in Colombo as customer service is the key to SCHWING Stetter's business".
