Resurfacing Palali runway

by Anton Nonis

Resurfacing of Palali airport runway in Jaffna is due to begin shortly, Air Marshall, Donald Perera, told the `Sunday Observer'. There is no foreign involvement in the work which will exclusively be handled by the Sri Lanka Government.

The estimated cost is Rs.350 million. The government had agreed to do the resurfacing of the runway on requests made by the Air Force, which had revealed that it was 7500 feet long and 240 feet wide and was not in good condition for the landing of aircraft due to one side being uneven.
