Swisscontact provides expertise The Swisscontact (Swiss Foundation for Technical Cooperation) has come forward to promote local economic development. Its main focus will be on access to markets, particulary for small holders farmers,and access to business development services (BDS) and credit for growth- oriented small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Swisscontact last week launched it's additional service Senior Export Service (SEC). Swisscontact has pool of experts offering consultancies in a large number of sectors such as tourism, food processing, construction, light engineering, textile and handicrafts, adult education, environment protection and many other sectors. Member of Swisscontact's-SEC Michael Hirsch -Lorenz said SEC services are normally free of charge and SEC consists of more than 600 retired professionals who carry out around 150 assignments annually in countries where Swisscontact is active. "Swiss contact now promotes SEC in Sri Lanka", he added. "SEC volunteers are down- to- earth men and women with a genuine interest in working together with people from different cultures and corners of the world", he added.Managing Director Aitken Spence Hotel Management, Malin Hapugoda, said there are several areas which need expert attention and expertise is not available within Sri Lanka. He said that there are many other industries in Sri Lanka which would be benefited from foreign expertise with regard to product nvironment,quality assurance and marketing. He said that currently Senior Expert Michael Hirsch-Lorenz is in Sri Lanka, assisting the Aitken Spence Hotel Management (pvt) Ltd in addressing front office issues. (CM) |
