Volvo buses to attract tourists by Hiran H.Senewiratne Volvo B7R luxury AC tourist and inter-city coach has been introduced to the Sri Lankan market, by Swedish Trading Company. It is one of the most successful models from Volvo globally. In India, this model already dominates the luxury AC tourist and inter-city segment, within three years since its introduction Volvo Regional Head Akash Passey said. He said that Volvo is entering a promising market with a modern bus concept in bus transport solutions. "We are here with solutions which we believe will not only cater to the needs of demanding tourist and inter-city segment in Sri Lanka and that will also make perfect business sense to our customers," he emphasised. "With a regional manufacturing base, world class quality and support systems, we are confident of being a responsive partner to our customer's needs," Passey noted. He stressed: "we are here with a long term perspective to operate here. In future complete transport system would conform to all tighter emission and safety norms and more fuel efficient engine to the road net work. Therefore this vehicle is a 100 per cent emission- free. Managing Director Swedish Trading Company Limited, Dushmantha Senanayake said that Volvo brand needs no introduction in Sri Lanka, as it has been here for three decades. Volvo products have always been characterised with the company's core values in safety, quality and concern for the environment. Entry of Volvo buses in Sri Lanka is an excellent opportunity especially for the tourist industry. The first batch of Volvo buses are already operating by a leading tour operating company Walkers Tours and which has proved its satisfactory performance by now, he added. |
