Website for Piliyandala MV

A website - www.piliyandalammv.sch.lk - will be launched at the Piliyandala Madya Maha Vidyalaya on November 29 to mark the 117th anniversary of the school.

A first day stamp cover will be cancelled by the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, D.M.Jayaratne.

The ceremonies to mark the anniversary is organised by the Junior Old Pupils' Association of the school.

Traffic diversion on Kandy road today

A ceremony to receive Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangalabidana Nayaka Thera of the Malwatte Chapter has been organised at the Weweladeniya Viharaya, Kegalle at 2.00 p.m. today. A colourful perahera has been organised from the Karandupotha junction (along the Colombo-Kandy road) to Weweldeniya Viharaya.

The stretch between 77 and 82 km-posts along the Colombo-Kandy road will be closed for traffic between 1.30 p.m-6 p.m., during which period traffic from Colombo to Kandy will be diverted from Ranwala junction to Polgahawela road and proceed upto Karadupona junction before connecting again with the Colombo-Kandy road.

Appeal to save infant girl's life

Baby Navoda Hethmani Edirisinghe, aged one year and four months, of 178/1, Medagama, Medirigiriya, is suffering from a chronic heart ailment.

A surgical operation is the only cure recommended by Dr. Aruna Kapuruge, Surgeon at Sri Jayewardanapura Hospital and it costs Rs. 350,000. Since her parents are unable to afford such a big amount, her father E.A. Nimal, Somasiri has appealed for public assistance to save her life. Those desirous of contributing to this worthy cause can send their donations and financial remittances to A/c. No. 10081957, Bank of Ceylon Medirigiriya Branch.

Help sought to save infant boy

One-and-half-year-old infant boy I.L. Ratnayake, of 209/7, Uduwana, Homagama is suffering from a heart ailment (A.V. Canal Defect) and has to undergo heart surgery at the Sri Jayewardenapura General Hospital.

The President's Fund has approved a sum of Rs. 115,000 for the operation. Since his parents are unable to meet the medical expenses for follow-up treatment, financial assistance is sought from the general public to expedite the surgery. All donations and contributions should be sent to A/c. 0430 05338020-101 Seylan Bank Homagama Branch.

Help save this boy

Five-year-old Malith Maduranga of 246, Mahamayapura, Trincomalee is suffering from a congenital heart disease.

Dr. Prasad Krishnan, Consultant Cardiologist, Apollo Hospital, Colombo has recommended urgent surgery for total correction of TOF + Valve Conduit Repair to save his life.

The surgery is estimated to cost Rs. 525,000/-. Malith's parents have requested financial assistance from the President's Fund to meet a part of the cost.

His mother W. Swarnalatha says they are unable to find the balance cost themselves and requests philanthropists and the public to assist their child's cause by sending whatever financial contributions possible. All contributions should be remitted to her Savings Account Number 1-023718-3 at the Bank of Ceylon, Bazaar Branch, Trincomalee.

Heart patient needs assistance

M. D. K. Ranasinghe, 59 years of age, a father of two children, of no 14/1, Buddhist Central Road, Galborella, Kelaniya, has been advised by Dr. Vajira Senarathne MBBS, MD, (col), FRCP (Lond.) Consultant Cardiologist to undergo an urgent heart surgery (PTCA TO LAD).

The surgery is estimated to cost Rs. 285,000 to be performed at Nawaloka Hospital, Colombo. Since he is unable to afford this amount due to his poor financial plight he requests public assistance to expedite the surgery and all donations and contributions may be remitted to Savings Account Number 1040376 - 6 People's Bank Branch, Avissawella.
