Eight schools in Olcott cricket sixes

The Sixth Henry Steele Olcott cricket tournament among the present boys and the old boys of Olcott schools will be held from December 3 to 5 at the NCC grounds.

The tournament is organised and conducted by the Old Anandians Cricket Wing.

Eight schools will participate in this popular tournament and the schools are: Ananda, Nalanda, Dharmaraja Kandy, Maliyadeva Kurunegala, Mahinda Galle, Dharmapala Pannipitiya, Rahula Matara and Dharmasoka Ambalangoda.

The six-a-side tournament among the present schoolboy cricketers in the eight schools will be played on December 3 followed by the eleven-a-side 30 overs matches among the old boys. All matches will be played at the NCC grounds.

A galaxy of past Test players and players who have represented Sri Lanka will be the main attraction at this tournament. The first Sri Lanka Test captain Nalandian Bandula Warnapura and the World Cup winning captain parliamentarian Arjuna Ranatunga have already given their consent along with the present Sri Lanka captain Marvan Atapattu to take part in the contest. Among the other past cricketers who will participate are: Tilan Samaraweera, Ajith de Silva, Avishka Gunawardena, Brendon Kuruppu, Jayantha Seneviratne, Sanjeeva Ranatunga, Sunil Wettimuny, Sidath Wettimuny.

The Cricket Wing of Ananda College requests all their past cricketers to participate in this tournament and make it an unique occasion to meet their past teammates.
