New turn in Narenthiran's case

by Jayantha Sri Nissanka Investigations into the stabbing of Consultant Cardiologist Dr. S. Narenthiran had taken a different turn when the suspect, Mrs. Deepthi Bogollagama made a counter complaint claiming that the doctor attempted to rape her.

Dr. Narenthiran had in his complaint to the Police that Mrs.Bogollagama stabbed him.

Colombo DIG Sirisena Herath told the Sunday Observer that the law will take its own course disregarding the status of persons involved in the case, to ascertain the truth. However, there are no eye witnesses to the stabbing of the doctor and his servant had told the Police that she did not see Mrs. Bogollagama stabbing her master.

When asked about the injuries caused to the doctor, DIG Herath said that it was a minor injury. Mrs. Bogollagama had gone to the doctor's house to find out as to why he was not present at a civil case at the Colombo District Court.
