Uva a province for all seasons

Would you like to take a trip to Uva which is never out of season for travel. The calendar of events at Uva shows that there are important happenings taking place every month in some part of Uva.

Muthiyangana temple

The climate in Uva is so diverse that within an hour's drive you can experience the difference of a warm as well as a cool climate. In this province the days are warm with clear blue skies while the evenings are cool, but not 'shivering' cold.

The food culture too is diverse and changes with each elevation you cross while the multi ethnic culture could be observed in all forms of the arts and dances performed in this region.

Ceylani Travels and Tours at No 334, Keppitipola Road, Badulla offers two programs to make the visit comfortable and memorable.

Visits to upper Uva include a trip to the world heritage site the Horton Plains, visits to water- falls, nature parks, rain forests, religious shrines, castles, art gallery, animal habitats, ancient villages, handicraft centres as well as cookery demonstrations.

Visits to lower Uva include a trip to the Miyugunu Civilization, religious shrines, water falls, mini worlds end, water parks, Dry zone forests, rivers, elephant habitats, art and craft centres, bird and butterfly sanctuaries, eco resorts, religious shrines, Mahayana Shrines and giant cultural projects.

Some of the famous temples in Uva are Dowa, Muthiyangana, Monaragala cave, Divurumpola, the Kirivehera at Kataragama and Kinkini vihara at Yudaganawa. It is situated at the foot of a hill and dates back to the second century. Dowa rock temple has mural paintings and an unfinished Buddha statue.

A vast area stretching from Ella, Haputale to Welimada and covering Bandarawela and Diyatalawa has been identified as a Health Resort Centre by German scholars. Uva province is the home for many herbs while Haldumulla, Nilgala and Monaragala produce some of the best.

We also offer tailor-made hiking, trekking, walking, camping, biking and bird watching programs with trained guides, Tourism Consultant Ceylani Travels and Tours Sunil Perera said.

Some of the services offered by us include comfortable coaches for travel, food and refreshments, a detailed information guide book, clean and comfortable accommodation in selected hotels, a trained guide and a stewedess on the coach who is ready to assist you and see to all your comforts.
