Mother donates 500 yuan on behalf of her 5-month-old baby

The people of China were continuing to donate for the tsunami affected people of Sri Lanka. Already the Chinese people have donated US$ 3 million. The Red Cross Society of China had received more than 25 million yuan (US$3 million) in donations from across the nation upto today.

Donors have been flocking to the China Charity Federation, which are also authorized by the Chinese Government to accept money.

The donors include, a five-month-old baby named Zhang Kexin whose mother donated 500 yuan (US$60) on her behalf. The Red Cross launched a charity donation and picture exhibition, Pan Shiyi and Zhang Xin, both CEOs of SOHO China Ltd, donated 1 million yuan (US$120,000). In Shanghai, nearly 3 million yuan (US$362,700) were collected with more than 90 per cent of it from individuals, until yesterday.

More than 20 of Beijing's newspapers, including China Daily, have signed an agreement to organize another charity show, "Love from China", at the Capital Gymnasium.
