CHC to assess damage caused by tsunami by Chanuka Mannapprema Ceylon Hotels Corporation (CHC) is now in the process of assessing the damage caused to its tourist locations in the Southern coastal belt which was hit by tsunami tidal waves. Bay Inn, Weligama run by the CHC had been affected by the tsunami disaster and it has now been closed. "Bay Inn at Weligama was affected as water entered through the ground floor causing damage to furniture and public areas". Consultant Travel and Marketing of CHC Shan Wickramaratne said. He confirmed that no harm was caused to any guest or any staff members. Our clients travelling down deep South to our Kataragama and Tissamaharama properties were also not affected by the tragedy, he said. "We have temporarily closed the Bay Inn, Weligama and presently assessing the damage to replace furniture and other utensils to recommence operations. We will notify the public in due course", he added. Wickramaratne stressed they were determined to restore and refurbish the CHC property and revert to operations with better standards at Bay Inn, Weligama. Other properties located at various prime locations are functioning normally with all services in place, Wickramaratne added. |
