'Reach Out' for Tsunami victims

by Mahes Perera

A band of young musicians have readily come forward to perform their hip hop and rap to help collect funds to rebuild the Tsunami Disaster victims.

Along with them senior leading lights who sing a different and popular tune head the list of performers at a specially designed show 'Reach Out' presented by one of Sri Lanka's leading keyboardist Diliup Gabadamudalige in collaboration wit the Colombo Plaza Hotel.

This unique show with an interesting line up of singers and bands will be held on Friday January 28 from 7 pm onwards. All the musicians are confident that music lovers will turn out in their numbers to support this cause. Tickets are priced at Rs. 1,000.

Heading the group of young musicians will be the Kazakhastan Award winners Charles Mark who are happy to be a part of this worthy experience and so too Iraj with K. Noize who have shot into the limelight within a short period of time.

Other outfits are Centigradz, Swastika and Crash. If you haven't caught their performances then this is the best time to support and appreciate their talent.

You'd be amazed at their creativity and enthusiasm. Diliup Gabadamudalige also informs us that up and coming Tamil singers Eswar Kumar and Ravindra will be performing as well. Nirosha Virajini the successful Sinhala singer will be in the spotlight singing her popular songs of today.

Diliup Gabadamudalige will be performing along with the youthful Wathsala and he will be backing all the other senior leading musicians Sunil and Piyal, Corinne, Sohan, Noeline, Yasmin, Derek, Damien, Evans de Fonseka. Joining this band of singers will be the former Jetliner bassist Brian Feltman, still in music and who is in Sri Lanka from Canada on holiday.

'Reach Out' will undoubtedly have a variety of entertainment, considering the fact that more than twenty musicians and singers will be on stage to help in raising the much needed funds for the Tsunami disaster victims.

Be a part of this experience styled by Diliup which as he tells us is going to be quite a different scene, on Friday January 28.
