Crystal International donates Rs. 30,000,000

Headquartered in Hong Kong, Crystal International Ltd., the holding company of its global garment manufacturing operations, together with all its global associates are deeply saddened by the tsunami disaster that befell the southern, eastern and northern coastal regions of Sri Lanka on December 26. "We wish to express our most sincere condolences to the people of Sri Lanka who have endured tremendous personal losses, hardships and sufferings as a consequence", a spokesman said.

"Our Company's mission, values and policies which dictate our global manufacturing and trading operations stress our responsibilities as a corporate citizen wherever we have a presence. We have a moral commitment to help people who are less fortune than ourselves and who are in dire need of assistance. The Crystal Group has four companies with manufacturing operations in Sri Lanka. These are Concord Apparel, Crystal Sweaters, Martin Emprex and Sinotex. As one of the world's leading manufacturers of fashion apparel with over 25,000 direct associates we have a total workforce of 6,500 in Sri Lanka.

We annually produce 180 million OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) and ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) pieces of garments for world-renowned fashion brands. We have manufacturing facilities and sales offices in Asia, Europe and the United States.

Once we learned of the disaster, our management initiated a campaign within the Crystal family of Associates for donations to support urgent relief and recovery efforts for our fellow Sri Lankan associates and people in Sri Lanka who might have been adversely affected.

At the same time, the Company quickly transferred Rs. 6,700,000 (equivalent to HK $500,000) to a Sri Lanka Relief Committee established within our Sri Lanka subsidiary companies to provide immediate relief like provision of food, drinking water, clothing and medicines.

"We are pleased to report that the Company's donation campaign has had an overwhelming enthusiastic response and over HK $ 1,000,000 has been collected.

"We will, in consultation with our Sri Lanka Relief Committee, explore other options on how we may best use of the balance of our donation to help our associates affected and the people of Sri Lanka in their sad plight.
