Opportunities in UK, Canada for Lankans

Europe Lanka Employment and Educational Consultants is mainly engaged in sending Sri Lankan graduates and professionals to UK and Canada under the various migration programs and work permit schemes provided by the British government and the Canadian government.

Europe Lanka's office at No. 8(a), Sri Dharmarama Road, Ratmalana, was established in Sri Lanka in 1999 by its founder, Managing Director J. R. Wickramanayake who is qualified accountant and a businessman with 20 years work experience in the UK.

Europe Lanka's UK office is managed by Prem Abeysekera, B.A., M.A., who was previously employed at the Sri Lanka High Commission in London as First Secretary (Education).

Europe Lanka's Managing Director says that Europe Lanka is different from all the other foreign employment agencies in Sri Lanka, particularly due to following reasons.

Firstly more than 98% of the foreign employment agencies in Sri Lanka send Lankans to work in the Middle East or similar countries and very few are sent to work in developed western countries such as UK and Canada. However, Europe Lanka send more than 98% of their clients who are graduates or professionals to developed countries such as UK and Canada.

Secondly, more than 98% of Sri Lankan workers sent by other agencies are sent for lower paid jobs such as housemaid and manual workers.

However, more than 98% of the Sri Lankans sent abroad by Europe Lanka are for highly paid professional jobs such as doctors, accountants, lawyers, engineers, computer professionals etc., who earn in excess of US $5,000 per month and the average amount of money sent back to Sri Lanka by one of these professionals is in excess of US $ 24,000 (Rs. 2.4m) per year.

Thirdly, Europe Lanka provides career guidance as well as consultancy on post-graduate studies to the graduates and professionals who go to UK and Canada so that these professionals can enhance their earning potential by gaining further qualifications while working. Europe Lanka also sends students to UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Russia.

Europe Lanka provides free seminars every Sunday at 3 p.m. at their office in Ratmalana, at No. 8 (a), Sri Dharmarama Rd., for those interested in migrating to UK or Canada.
