Action against inactive officials

by Anura Maitipe

Disciplinary action would be taken against officials who would not properly monitor distribution of dry rations and other essential items to people in tsunami affected areas, Public Administration and Reforms Minister Amarasiri Dodangoda told the Sunday Observer. He said that there were allegations against certain officials for inactivity in implementing the relief program launched by the government to assist people in tsunami affected areas.

Allegations have been levelled against 10 Additional District secretaries and 98 Gramaseva Niladharis. Two of these additional district secretaries have already been transferred. Disciplinary inquiries will be held against all these officials who had failed to carry out distribution of dry rations and other relief made available by the government for people in tsunami affected areas, he added.
