Greek floating hospital in SL 'The Ocean Monarch,' a floating hospital carrying another consignment of relief goods donated by the Government of Greece was scheduled to arrive in Trincomalee yesterday. Ambassador of Greece to Sri Lanka based in New Delhi Ffstathios Lqzos said in a press release that over 70 crew members including doctors and other medical experts onboard the ship would provide medical care to the needy in Trincomalee. The Ocean Monarch would remain in Trincomalee for a long period providing medical care to the tsunami affected. Greek Government sent military aircraft to transport humanitarian aid to the country soon after the tsunami hit the country on December 26. It also announced medium-term emergency development aid of 150,000 Euros recently. Several Greek NGOs too joined in providing relief supplies during the tragedy, the press release said. |
