NE to get lion share of tsunami aid TAFREN Chairman, Mano Tittawella, says that tsunami aid will be strictly made available on the basis of human loss and suffering and damage to infrastructure. Responding to a news item published in an English Daily on February 12, Tittawella said that he made no reference to the LTTE area. He said that on the basis of the assessment done so far, the North and East would get around 55 to 60 per cent of the aid. Tittawella said that relief and reconstruction aid was, and would be, allocated only on the basis of damage caused and on no other criteria. PNM protests over Annan's message The Patriotic National Movement (PNM) has protested against the condolence message of UN Secretary General on the killing of LTTE Eastern Province Leader Kausalyan. The PNM says that it has great respect for and faith in UN Secretary General Kofi Annan who has won the hearts and minds of the entire world community. However PNM questions, whether officials of the UNO have extended condolences or sympathies when leaders of other terrorist organisations were assassinated in the past.
