Austrian tsunami aid 6m Euros Schoolchildren and big companies, retired people and various communities in Austria have stepped into assist the tsunami victims in Sri Lanka. About 6 million euros have been collected upto now by an NGO called Kurier Aid Austria. Under the leadership of the Chairman of 'Kurier Aid Austria', the publisher of a large Viennese daily newspaper, Peter Rabl and the Secretary General of the Austrian Red Cross, a large delegation visited Sri Lanka to identify a place in the Southern coastal belt at Habaraduwa. During the first two days, at the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Ursula Plassnik was also present in the country. Prime Minister Rajapakse emphasised to commence the programme without any formal ceremony. The Austrian Project team has already installed 150 tents for the displaced victims and 150 more have been ordered from Austria. At the same time, 'Kurier Aid Austria' will supply the required materials to be distributed among the victimised families. The master plan comprises aid to 500 families including all services such as schools, workshops, a hospital with an ambulance and other vital installations.
