Rating Agency Malaysia Berhad ("RAM"), Malaysia's leading rating agency which is also the technical advisor and a shareholder of Lanka Rating Agency Ltd. (LRA) has signed an affiliation agreement with Standard and Poor's.

The latter is a leading international provider of independent investment research, indices and ratings.

Through this strategic tie-up, the two firms will coordinate their analytical and business development activities in Malaysia. Standard and Poor's will share its global rating expertise and analytical criteria with RAM. In return, RAM will assist in Standard and Poor's business development in Malaysia, sharing its considerable knowledge of the country's financial markets.

LRA would through its technical partner RAM reap the benefit of global rating processes and methodologies - strengthening the quality of its rating services in Sri Lanka.
