Kandy SC 'A' rout Army

Kandy SC 'A' made their intentions clear with a runaway 50 points (5 goals, 3 tries) to nil win over Army SC 'B' in the opening match of the Singer 7's circuit organised by the SLRFU, which began at Nittawela yesterday.

Scoring tries for Kandy were skipper and winger Sanjeewa Jayasinghe (3), Fly-half Fazil Manza (2), scrum-half Amjad Buksh (2) and full-back Nalaka Weerakoddy (1) who also goalled 5 tries. Kandy SC beat Army by 50 (5 goals 3 tries) to nil, after leading 24-0 at half-time.

CH & FC beat Kandy SC 'B' by 19 (2 goals, 1 try) to 12 (1 goal, 1 try).

Police beat Old Zahirians 'B' by 31 (3 goal, 2 tries) to 7 (1 goal).

CR & FC 'A' beat Navy 'B' by 54 (7 goals, 1 try) to nil.

CH & FC 'B' beat Navy 'A' by 12 (1 goal, 1 try) to 5 (1 try).

Havelocks SC beat Jawatte Lions by 45 (5 goals, 2 tries) to nil.

Army 'A' beat CR & FC 'B' by 35 (5 goals) to 5 (1 try).

Old Zahirians SC 'A' beat Air Force by 21 (3 goals) to 14 (2 goals).

The tournament will resume today at 8.30 a.m.
